Sawadee krup! Ooan and I left Chiang Mai at 9:00 pm on Thursday night. After 9 hours of driving, our bus arrived at the capital at 6:30 Friday morning. Bangkok, wahoo! The first thing I noticed about Bangkok was the number of people, the loud traffic, the convenient subway and large number of bus'. Next we took a taxi to Hua Mak Stadium, also known as Rajamangala National Stadium. Once we got to the front desk we asked the clerk if we could check into our room. She told us our room was already full! Damn! So we decided to call our friend who lives in Bangkok to see if we could stay with him. He said yes and we moved over to his place for the next three days.

After our move we headed out to explore Bangkok. We visited the temple Wat Phra Kaew, the market Wang Lung (near the Siriraj Hospital), and Kao San Road. Along the way we saw many red shirt protesters throughout the city. We decided not to take a taxi around the city so we could explore more. Instead we took the bus, sky train, subway and river boat. It was much more fun to travel outside of a taxi! Exploring Bangkok this way made my experience so much better!
During the two days at the competition I decided to focus on my goals. I made sure to get enough rest every night and felt so good because of it. My goals were to meet people and to climb hard. I also wanted to remember, when I climb, it is something that I love doing instead of letting the pressure get to me. This is something I especially wanted to remember on sight route 2.
The judges score all of the climbs and in lead climbing I got 12th place. The second day was the bouldering competition. I am not quite sure what my score was for this day but I know I felt my climbing was much stronger. Although I didn't get the ranking that I wanted in the end of the competition, I was still proud of myself for meeting my goals. I have made my mind up that if I want to be the best climber, I should work hard and never give up even when I think I should. I have to keep it up, to push my limit beyond what I think I can. Finally, I need to believe in what I am doing.
Naddy krup!
I would like to say a big thank you to all of those who support me: my family, my CMRCA family, P. Boom, my sister, my twin brother Ooan Suradat Kongsingh (R*ckstar), my lovely Naddy Nikki and all of the people I know.
I had an awesome time in Bangkok and can't wait to be a badass climber! Climbing life has just begun!
